When I find myself poking around old sundries placed in the attic or in the basement, I often run into objects that were put aside, wrapped in newspaper pages. In these cases, I find sarcastically funny to read again the titles and some snippet of articles dating back to several years ago, since last time I fixed them in our home storeroom.
All the melancholy that accompanies the human condition powerfully filters through in those moments. Press reports, meaningless in the eyes of the History, that perhaps influenced in a crucial manner the fate of the life of these devious doodlebugs, moving to pursue the happiness in vain. Rivers of ink spent by diligent columnists to report about the event, to fill the blank pages of their paper, churned out by the rotary presses shortly after. Ephemeroptera of the media, it will live for few hours, before sadly returning to the endless landfill of the oblivion.

Quando mi ritrovo a dover frugare fra le cose vecchie sistemate in soffitta o in cantina, spesso mi imbatto in oggetti che sono stati messi da parte avvolti in fogli di giornale. In questi casi trovo sarcasticamente divertente rileggere i titoli e qualche frammento di articolo risalente a parecchi anni fa, a quando cioè questi oggetti non più in uso sono stati stipati nei nostri magazzini domestici.
Tutta la malinconia che accompagna la condizione umana trapela portentosa in quei momenti. Episodi di cronaca, insignificanti di fronte agli occhi della Storia, che magari hanno condizionato in maniera decisiva le sorti della vita di una di queste subdole formichine che si muovono affannate alla invana ricerca della felicità. Fiumi di inchiostro spesi da diligenti cronisti per documentare l’accaduto, per riempire le bianche pagine della propria testata, sfornata di lì a poche ore dai rulli delle rotative. Ephemeroptera dell’informazione, essa non vivrà che per poche ore per poi fare un mesto ritorno alla sterminata discarica dell’oblio.
